  • I am inspired…

    Welcome to my cyber diary. I am happy to be able to share with my readers my favorite passion and life's work.

    People inspire me, and that was the main reason why I decided to become a photographer. Everyone is so different in what they do, how they act and react and the way the express themselves. I am lover of modern style portrait photography. While I have specialized in weddings, I really don't have many inhibitions. As I grow forever into this business this blog will be the place I get to showcase all of my blood, sweat and tears, in the form of imagery.

    If you are a regular here, thanks again for coming back. There's probably lots to see since your last visit.

    If you have come by for the first time, then allow me to be the first one to welcome you here! Please check out my most recent stuff by simply scrolling down and going from there. Depending on what brought you here (and how much time you have) check out the links at the top to see where they take you. I appreciate any and all feedback about what you see and like, so be vocal and shout it out if you want me to know who you are.

    Until next time...

Jenna & Danny – Evening Engagement Session

 I am so pumped for the upcoming wedding season! I am really excited to be working with the wonderful couples that have hired me this year. It’s going to be a creatively awesome experience for each one.

This past weekend I had the great opportunity of shooting my first wedding of the year which happened to be an old college friend of mine. It was great getting back into wedding mode.

Their wedding blog post will be coming, but I wanted to use this opportunity to show you some of the great images from their engagement shoot recently, where we met downtown, and did an evening session.

Different than a traditional daylight session, at night, you are working with street lights, headlights and the use of your external flash a lot more. I liked being able to play with the shutter speed more, to get some cool effects. It was definitely somnething I will look forward to doing again.

Enjoy these few from the night:

Stephanie & Ryan – Engagement Session at the Leg

Doing engagement sessions are a fun way to get to know your couples you are going to work with for their big day. Every couple is always so unique and brings their own dynamic into the mix, and it definitely brings out different creativeness.

Stephanie and Ryan had decided to do their engagement session at the Legislative Building. There clean cut dress, really added to the overall theme. The affection that this young couple shows to themselves is something to envy. I really didn’t have to give them much in the way of direction. They were awesome in front of the lens all by themselves!

Susan & Brian – Fun in Manitoba {Part 2}

Finally an opportunity to share with you Part 2 of the wonderful Susan and Brian.

A couple of weeks after their wedding in beautiful Kananaskis, Susan and Brian invited all of their friends and family out to Gimli for some good times at a huge reception. Of course this included their close friends, as a part of their wedding party. We took a few hours before the festivities to make our way out to a few places, and get some cool shots, including a bunch at the fair that was happening at Winnipeg Beach.

It was another great day to say the least. Props to the guys for bearing the heat in those black tuxes!

Susan & Brian – Mountain Views and Wedding Vows {Part 1}

Susan and Brian were not only great clients, they are now good friends. I had the extraordinary opportunity of taking part in their quiet, secluded wedding ceremony in Kananaskis country out in the fine province of Alberta. I must confess that after living in Calgary for 3 years that I never checked out Kananaskis while I was there, even though it is not terribly far from Calgary. It’s kind of a shocker to me really.

It was such a unique way of sharing their vows. Only moms, dad, grandma and brothers and sister were there to share in the moments of this day, which made it such a special event for them. The views were incredible!

Afterwards, it was great to be able to wander the park for the awesomeness that was nature and grab some special shots. We went way overtime because there simply weren’t enough hours to capture all that surrounded us, but it was worth it.

This day however was not to be outdone by Part 2: the fun with family and friends out back in their home province of Manitoba. Stay tuned for that event, which included ferris wheels, bumper cars, beaches, sun and sand and whole lot in between. You’ll want to book mark this one.

Shantall & Adam ~ Married

Shantall and Adam tied the knot amongst a nice quaint gathering of their firends and family. It was such a privilege to get to know these two, not only because they are such great people, but because I got to hang out with their wonderful little boy Evan. As I have said before it is amazing what you can learn from kids, even if they can’t talk. The expressions they have, and there general attitude is just something we can all learn from, especially when life gets too serious!

Here are some pics from their great day:
